Review on Edelmann 80385 Steering Pressure Hose by Isaac Shankar

Will not fit my Honda Power Steering Pump OEM

Where do I start, how disappointed I was with this product which only had Edelmann's name on the plastic bag on a small stick on the label. As a child, I always associated the Edelmann name with quality auto parts, but that wasn't my experience with this product. The hose will fit the power steering pressure port, but will not fit the power steering pump outlet (Honda genuine part). Also, the hose end mounting sleeve with the pump did not have a shape close to that of the OEM hose boss as shown in the photos I provided. This is a chunky block that has too much material around the rim of the pump side mounting bolt hole and gets in the way of the power steering pump housing. If they machined some of this stuff a bit it could fit without getting in the way, and since the pump bore is tight on the OD of that boss joint, it's not a good situation. The rubber hose part itself is tested at approximately 0.700" OD on this Edelmann part, while the original Nichirin OEM part is tested at approximately 0.825" OD. The OEM part also has two molded rubber mounting grommets that fit over the metal brackets on the vehicle to properly hold the hose. This Edelmann part doesn't have them so I cut the bushings off the OEM part but they didn't fit as the Edelmann hose OD is much smaller than the OEM part. I wish I could give it half a star but I don't know how to do it but I can't advise buying this part as it doesn't even fit in the power steering pump outlet of the original Honda power steering pump. If I had seen a photo of this hose before buying it I would have thrown it away. I'll try to provide pictures of this hose so other people aren't as surprised as I am.
