*Important: See below for a simple tip or you'll go crazy trying to connect to this at home*

Everything went smoothly with the installation and setup, except for one small thing; During the online setup, which is short and simple, TP-Link's instructions recommend checking the "MAXstream" box. After spending some time getting worked up about my phone not connecting to the network even though I could see it and the signal strength was full, I finally found an online thread on TP community support that said that wireless clients will not do this if you check this box connect to the same CPE210; It is intended for installations where one CPE210 communicates with another CPE210. I unchecked that box as suggested and the issue was resolved. Here's how I was able to set this up as a simple single outdoor hotspot to get strong WiFi in the back of the yard: I mounted it high up on the back wall of the house, almost to the top (it's the only attic story, so doesn't have me really scared). I made sure it was facing the direction we wanted to get a signal - our dining pavilion, followed by our sun loungers (which line up with each other and with the CPE). I gave the CPE the same SSID and password as our current wireless network. and untested MAXstream. (The TP Link instructions should prompt you to do this if you are only installing one device!) I then completed setup and signed out. I then told all my wireless devices to forget about this wireless network (we have a dual band router so there are also two 5GHz options in the scan list - this only applies to 2.4GHz ). Then as soon as the 2.4GHz frequency reappeared in the WiFi scan list (after 1 second), I clicked on it, entered the password and connected immediately. If you now bring the device to the other end of the yard, the signal will be at full strength. С тем же SSID и паролем, что и у вашей существующей сети, ваше устройство не "думает" о том, что это новая сеть, а "думает", что это просто еще одна точка доступа к вашей существующей сети, а это именно то, What do you need. (I learned all this online after some time, which I shouldn't have done - it should have been clear in the manufacturer's instructions). I hope this helps someone. I will revisit this review in the future after spending some time with the device. But it seems well done and a lot of people are having luck with it, so I hope I have it too.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
