We use a pair of these ropes as clothes lines, attached to existing steel clothes line posts set into concrete. So far they're working well, but there are a few caveats. The instructions, though minimal, show how to attach the U-clip to the inside of the hinge inside the aluminum ferrule. This is incorrect - the yoke should be on the outside of the tip as shown in the product's promotional images. Otherwise, the tip will simply slip off the cable. It would be nice to have two U-clips on each end for security, but I think it's just a clothesline. J hooks with standoffs are great if you need them, but not many people use them so they can be left out and the price reduced. All of this hardware is priced close to what they're offering, so it's a pretty good deal, especially since you don't have to buy more than you need. Cutting the cable is easy with a hacksaw and a 32 TPI fine-tooth blade. Here, anything that stays out all winter has to be stainless steel, so I'm hoping it lasts. I'll also note that despite the word "retractable" in the title, it's not as retractable as most people think of a clothesline. There is a lanyard that can be tightened, but it's designed for continuous use, not repeated raising and lowering.
