Between ebay and Revain, here's the best price on a 100 yard roll of muslin! No problem cutting out the sizes I need when I lay out my stash. I know what I need and it takes a minute to prepare the strips. Yes, muslin leaves little threads and scraps of cloth all over it. I suggest tracing the stripes on a light, clean surface, such as a desk. a kitchen counter, away from the waxing area and shake off the strips before taking them to the waxing area to reduce the spread of bits of fabric. All in all, if you are a big waxing specialist (legs etc.) and will be doing it for some time, this is your best bet. If you only do brows and lips, it lasts so long that it needs to be passed on to your kids.
