Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ MENSI Propane Gas Fireplace 750 Millivolt Thermopile Generators: Efficient Replacement with 36" Aluminium Glass Fiber Wire by Seth Gibbons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My gas fireplace is working again!

I have a Heat-n-Glo fireplace that hasn't been lit in about 13 years. The igniter lights up, but the fireplace does not turn on. After some research I found out that this condition is usually caused by a bad thermopile. Thermopiles typically last around 10-15 years. An easy way to check is to measure the voltage with a voltmeter with the igniter lit (heat creates voltage). My old one put out about 197 millivolts, should be between 500 and 750 millivolts. I installed the new one in about 45 minutes, let it warm up, measured the voltage and it was 685 millivolts. I flipped the switch and the fireplace caught fire for the first time in 3 years. My chimneyman wasn't able to go out until February 1st, so I now have a chimney for the winter.
