Review on πŸ”§ MOSHUSO 7-inch Magic Arm Friction Articulating Arm with 1/4" Screw for Field Monitor, LED Light, Flash | Max Payload 3 kg/6.6 lbs by Ishon Prz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Suitable for small lights, screens, webcams etc - not very strong

This extension is great for adding and swinging accessories to your photography gear or gear. For those unfamiliar with how this works, and since no manual is included, the thumbscrew in the center (the "knee") loosens and tightens the whole thing. Personally, I find this makes customization more difficult. The problem with this is that the elbow doesn't move freely, it relies on small teeth to mesh. This is of course a personal opinion based on my usage. But I also find it too weak. There is no way he can hold 3 kg (6.6 lbs). I've tried a few lights and it has already struggled with a cheap plastic ring LED light (1.5 pounds) and it barely stays in place. This is mainly due to the fact that the friction on the ball heads is not strong enough. Imagine weak brakes on a car. Even with the knurled screw tight, there is still movement. It's a shame because the quality is excellent. The metal and finish are fine, but there's one difference between Manfrotto's $100 magic arm and this one ($18 as of January 2021): it's an upgraded setup for added stiffness (and peace of mind that he's not sagging). Good: A really well-made device for the price. It can hold small screens, mobile phones and small LED flashlights which I love so much. It also does a great job with the webcam, which we use in combination with the Moshuso quick release baseplate. $18 is the normal price. It really comes down to the workload this product has to handle. Four stars, one for an optimistic weight rating. Hope this helps with the decision.
