Very good for juicing carrots, apples and other hard vegetables. We used it today (3/15/2016) on a large batch of carrot juice (over a gallon, with breaks per liter and to empty the pulp container) and it has minimal foam, good consistency and fairly dry pulp. Well position is good, no leaks, no splashes, no mess despite being 1000w at max speed. The machine's cutting basket has very low vibrations that more or less disappear at normal speed, and a floating mechanism has been added to the electric motor that absorbs vibrations fairly well. Well, this is a centrifugal juicer, not a satellite guidance system, so such a trifle is expected and does not bother. The locking mechanism of this juicer is very well constructed and the base is made of cast iron like magnesium making the base heavy and fairly durable. The opening at the top is large so I would be very careful never to leave this unit unattended if you have a small child who can get into trouble in a split second. Sure, it's no grinder, but I feel compelled to mention it - we should all be aware that small children, active cellphones, commendable TVs, and weary parents when everything's up and running can be a potentially dangerous combination. The noise level of this unit at a high level is about as loud as a large hair dryer at high speed. You don't need hearing protection. The noise is neither shrill nor annoying. That's a definite plus, at least for me. Either way, the juicer is excellent, and not just for the money. I thought about buying 2 other brands with similar specs but it either only had 2 speeds or was a lot more expensive and the possible availability of parts from Cuisinart seemed a much more logical choice if needed. You still have to chop the carrot stalks, wash them and take your time not to harden them, but there are few at this point and the juice comes out as fast as tap water. Apples need to be cored - not because this juicer can't handle it, but because the ingredients inside the apple are cores. Lemons and oranges should be peeled if you don't want to consume all those antifungal sprays that are sprayed on many citrus fruits before storage. Even organic, chemical-free peels ruin the flavor just because the citrus oil in the peel is too strong to consume in large quantities—which is why some supermarket citrus juices have that wonderful smell combined with a bitter aftertaste. Citrus oil is good for flavoring cakes and treating acne, but not for drinking. Celery is great for juicing, but for veggies I use one of those slow juicers, the upright version. Celery, raspberries, strawberries, and things like kiwis work best with a slow juicer. It seems like the "one size fits all" idea is only good for t-shirts. Considering you can get slow-chew juicers for a lot less than you used to, there's no reason not to have one, so you can make spinach and celery nectar taste weird, but quite nutritious. Cleaning the CJE-1000 is quick and easy as there are no nooks and crannies or hidden compartments on some juicers. The body of the top of the device is made of high-impact ABS plastic, it is very well made and fits perfectly. Cuisinart did a great job designing the mating parts - if it's not assembled properly, it won't start. Also, the motor has an automatic thermal fuse, not a big and expensive brand I've had before and for that reason I'll never touch it again. One day you will overheat the juicer and if you don't have an automatic temperature reset you will send it in for repair. Not with this juicer. Thank you Cuisinart! Did I mention 5 speeds? Yes, you may need it, maybe not always, but it's always nice to have more choices and handy controls. Okay, time to go, let's drink some more of that fine juice, and then we'll make some pulp into a carrot cake. , and the rest of the pulp goes to chickens and wild birds. I hope this juicer lasts a while and if it ever breaks I will most likely buy another one in the hope that until then Cuisinart will still be making quality kitchen appliances at an affordable price. This is how I quickly get healthy, natural and nutritious juice. Not high fructose corn syrup, but I have to admit I keep a liter under the sink - it's great to add to the water to keep Christmas trees fresher for longer. although I've always wondered how it works. LOLBTW I bought this juicer direct from Revain inventory - they were the best priced and I trust them the most.
