Review on Seville Classics Expandable Cabinet Organizer by Steve Arnold

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well made but a little clunky in multiples

I've used plastic spice racks in several cabinets (not just spices) over the years, but since my cabinets have natural maple interiors, I wanted something to go by looks. They're very well made, in the same bamboo tones as the maple, and they look really nice in my closets. But build quality is an issue. I bought two to fit side by side in my closet and they did a great job. However, the shelves are a bit thicker, with even thicker 3/8-inch ledges on each side. You lose 3/4" per post due to the side trim, or 1.5" for the two side-by-side posts I used (see photo). Not a big problem, just something to be aware of. Slightly more annoying are the two distinct shelf levels that appear when you expand the shelf to fit the space. The bamboo is thick enough to create a certain step effect; Either your containers have to fit snugly in this gap, or they'll dangle in space (see right side of photo). Again, this isn't a huge problem, but it does reduce the overall shelf space a bit. I think that's exactly what you're paying for when you go with wood over plastic.
