I bought a 4ch with a 1TB hard drive. I'm an IT professional in a manufacturing facility and this was purchased to oversee our delivery system. The farthest range is about 80 feet. All cameras are wireless. They're all indoors too, so I have very little experience or information on night vision capabilities. The initial setup was as easy as it gets guys. I simply hooked up the dash cam, monitor and included (albeit cheap) little mouse and started tweaking the basic settings (time zone, recording method, motion or continuous recording, etc.). It doesn't exist on our network at all, so I just configured it as a locally managed device. I then connected the cameras one by one and they all connected well. The IT department is upstairs and I was even able to connect wirelessly across the floor. Trust me when I say this is a good wireless test. This building was built in 1892 and was built to withstand a nuclear war! Literally. There are 3 air raid shelters in the complex that were built in the 1950s. Should work fine for your home. Trust me. I highly recommend and am here now to buy another for my house and another for a friend of mine who has a theft problem and is interested.
