Review on Center Console Lid Kit For Select GM Vehicles - Replaces 25998847 by Mike Littlejohn

No more accidentally opening the lid!

After several attempts to fix the broken pillar on my '06 Trailblazer's center console cover with superglue, I decided it was time to stop this madness and purchase the cover replacement part I needed. Trailblazer and now my center console lid doesn't pop open when I'm driving. I only used the one part the post was sticking out of as the top and latch were not broken. The first thing to do. I noticed that the part of the rack cover I was replacing was only slightly smaller than the original, but not by much, and all of the screw holes matched, so I only ever replaced the part of the rack cover. The picture of part of the pillar cover does not show that there is a slot at the back for the center console assembly hinge to pass through. I was hoping that I could just remove the broken part of the cover and put a new one on without taking the entire center console apart, but that's not the case. To remove the hinge screws I had to loosen all the screws and bolts. for the center console and remove the parts to access the hinge screws. Once that's done, it's easy to install and screw in the replacement part. The whole process took about 10-15 minutes to remove all the center console parts, install the old cover part, then the new center console part and reassemble the center console. I dropped a screw into the abyss of the center console "hole". and didn't find it. I've looked everywhere. I'm hoping that eventually it will come out of hiding and I can screw it into the one remaining hole that is currently empty. I gave 4 stars because the lid part is smaller and there were no instructions. It would have been nice to know before I started that I would have to remove the hinge. With no instructions and the part of the lid that wasn't in the picture I didn't know about it until I started removing the old part of the lid. Otherwise it's great and I'm glad I finally replaced the thing. The superglue treatment didn't work that well in the long run.
