My Hampton Bay ceiling fan only started to run at high speed instead of 3 speeds. I first replaced the 3 speed derailleur but no change. (This has fixed my other fan in the past.) I've read that if the condenser was the problem, it would be obvious from the deformed shape, but mine above looked fine after installation. (See 1st photo) As soon as I lifted it out of the fan housing I saw a bulge. (Photos 2 and 3 show side and bottom views) After replacing the condenser, the fan started working normally again. The replacement has the same uF specs. The new one is physically a bit smaller, which is good because it fits my fan more easily. I paid 9$59 for 2 capacitors because they only cost about $1. 50 more than 1. I figured since I have 5 Hampton Bay fans at home I might have a spare in case the other fan fails. I am VERY SATISFIED with the product and can only recommend it. I liked this solution because not only was it a lot cheaper than replacing the entire fan, but I think it was probably easier too! The first 3 photos are an old bad capacitor. The last 2 photos show side-by-side comparisons, the new capacitor is on the left. Hope this is helpful.
