I have three of these chairs (two cream low backs and blue high backs). I use one (I'm short at 5ft 4ft) and my 13 and 9 year olds use the other two. They are easy to fit, very comfortable and in my case go well with my extra lumbar support. The seat is relatively easy to raise and lower. I didn't have a floormat for the first few weeks and noticed that it did NOT damage my carpet; However, to ease rolling and as a precaution, I installed a solid floor protector (I also recommend one that is heavy-duty and will flatten out if you have a mid-pile rug like I do. I don't have to waste time trying to reshape it (considering it's flat.) Most of the time I alternate between sitting and standing, but even on days when I had knee pain and sat all day, the chair was very comfortable and I definitely didn't have any lower back pain myself had previously with the more ornate chair I used before being forced to work from home for nine months.
