I bought this for our black lab as down south we sometimes feel like we don't need warmth and other times it seems like it's getting cold. I have bought similar coats for our small dogs but the material on the inside of this coat touching their skin seems to make them very itchy. I bought a similar coat, apparently made of the same material as this one, and she wears it in the evenings with no itch. After washing this coat again, I decided to try again. I thought the initial irritation might have been an accident but no, after wearing it for about two hours last night she had the exact same skin irritation. She is not a sensitive dog and this is the first time she has experienced anything like this. Might still work on another dog but I can't test it on any of my dogs as it's too big for them.
