Although advertised as dishwasher safe, stainless steel is not really dishwasher safe as most dishwashing detergents contain chemicals that will attack it, although not all. For best results, hand wash in warm, soapy water and dry immediately with a kitchen towel. If the surface looks "stained" even after washing, Bar Keeper's Friend and a non-scratch pad/sponge will work wonders for stainless steel. Why 4* rating? I removed 1/2* because of the sharp, uneven edge of the guard. I haven't cut myself on it yet, but it has to happen. I deducted another 1/2* for overstating his capabilities.
