Review on πŸ’‘ DEEPCOOL RF120M 5IN1 - 5x120mm RGB PWM Fans with 2 Fan Hubs for ASUS Aura Sync by Tyler Vaughn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent budget 4-pin 12V/4-pin RGB PWM fans, with some caveats.

Pros: -great value for money -bright LEDs -fairly good cooling -RGB daisy chain cable -5 sets of 2 fan hubs -vibration pads work well Cons: -cheap screws -not the quietest at high speeds - the RGB header extension slides off easily - not sure if the RGB fan connectors should be plugged directly into the RGB header. All in all a great opportunity for some RGB flair. The fact that the fans can be daisy chained to get to the RGB header made it ten times easier to hook them up without having to buy splitters or control hubs. Please note that the lighting will NOT work if the motherboard does not have 4-pin RGB 12V headers or a 4-pin lighting control hub. The fans were not that easy to assemble as the screws came loose very easily. Luckily they replaced some cheap non-RGB 3 pin fans for me so I had other self tapping screws that worked fine as 3 of the 15 screw heads ripped off trying to install. At 40-50% speed you can hear the fans very quietly. Rotation/expulsion of air but no rumble, vibration or odd buzzing. At 60% they are quite audible, but not too annoying. Additionally, they're fairly noisy, but set your fan profiles so they don't get too high, except in warmer temperatures, and you won't be bothered by it as you're immersed in a game or performance task. Now the RGB connector extension perfectly matches the fan connectors. But the end that goes to the RGB header was really loose - it slipped off a couple of times when installing fans, which was annoying since I'm running in a fairly small case. The other issue I had was that I wanted to split which fans go to which title, but the RGB fan chords in the title were even weaker. I think they're meant to be connected all together and then with an RGB extension cable, otherwise there would be nothing snagging on the connector for the fan tendons. In doing so, I found that my motherboard was feeding the two RGB fan headers the same colors, so it didn't really matter anyway. I didn't notice any significant drop in temperature after switching from lower speed, lower air pressure 3-pin fans, although my thermal performance is mainly limited by my stock CPU cooler. Overall I would recommend them for budget 12V/4pin RGB fans. If you don't need RGB lighting, you're getting better value than other fans, although they seem to have good airflow for budget RGB fans. Edit: When I originally wrote this review, this set of 5 fans was $35. At the current price of €65, I wouldn't recommend it at all.
