I saw a friend using this when she was visiting so bought one for herself. I only use this to make Indian style ginger tea and nothing else. The reason for this is that when you grate the ginger, almost everything gets caught in the "teeth" of the grater. If I just put water on the grater, it all comes off my teeth. So basically I grate the ginger, add water to make the ginger come out, and use that water to make tea. When I add it to a curry I have to use a fork or knife to try to get the stuck ginger out. So don't even try. But for my purposes it works fine, I'm happy with this product.
