The knife is interesting. Someone else posted the term "sandwich opener" to help you get started. The blade is sharp, long with a flat edge - ideal for slicing bread, bagels, tomatoes, onions. Because it's spicy, you can slice almost anything thinly. Tip is great for getting into jars - you can get that layer of mayonnaise if you're making a sandwich, right? It works very well - I use it in place of my chef's knife quite a bit. It will be interesting to see how the edge holds up. The edge is unique, so I'm curious to see how the first sharpening goes. The blade is engraved to possibly mimic the look of Damascus steel, which it is not. Looks good - not Damascus. The packaging is really top notch - and the blade sheath is well made with a neat and SIMPLE "hairpin-on-string" locking mechanism. We can say that real designers contributed to the presentation - it's so visually interesting and functional. Great job by the packaging team. Decent value as long as good performance.
