I have a tall 10 year old boy who usually wears 12-14. Waist and length match perfectly. He is NOT skinny and they are a little tight in the legs, almost like skinny jeans. But this is the same kid who weighed 10 pounds. 10 ounces at birth and will never be lean. So if your boy is lean/wiry I think they will fit perfectly. The stretchy material is comfortable and moves with a very active boy. Good quality jeans.
