First experience in the production of beeswax cloths. There was definitely a learning curve using this product and probably making the wraps myself. I thought it would be easy to rub and "sprinkle" the beeswax, but it turned out to be a daunting task. We found that the most helpful way to use this product effectively was to cut off pieces and melt them using the steam method. The wax melted fairly quickly (2 tbsp melted in about 1-2 minutes on medium). After the wax melted, we first applied it to the fabric and it cured instantly (if it did, just pop it in the oven). We found that placing the fabric in the oven while the wax melted on the stove was effective. When the wax was ready, it was easy to apply with a brush when the kiln was open and the fabric was halfway out of the kiln. We've also found that brushing is easier on a Silpat mat than parchment paper as the silk grips the fabric and prevents it from slipping. especially if you don't need to pre-melt the wax. And if you don't want to sacrifice a grater. I'm scared how to remove stuck wax.
