Review on 50-Count Dingo Twist Sticks Rawhide Chews Made With Real Chicken by Reynaldo Guzman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just hoping the Chinese source doesn't mean problems

Despite the melamine etc pet food scandals having to do with Chinese pet products, I bought these based on the hope that Dingo's web site's statement " Our rawhide chews are produced in South America, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam in Global Food Safety Institute compliant facilities" actually meant something. I hope it's good enough. I can't find anything that is manufactured in the USA from USA rawhide.Other than that concern, the dogs of course love them. The sticks are smaller than the ones I buy at the supermarket, but not a lot smaller, and overall the price per ounce is better than the supermarket brand; and the price per stick definitely is.Update: The dog that eats most of these now has liver problems likely caused, according to the vet, by some kind of poisoning. Since these are the only things he ever consumes other than IAMS, I have stopped the twist sticks entirely. We don't know how long the problem has been there; it was found via a blood test that he gets only periodically. Right now his (now bi-weekly) blood tests are somewhat better but it will take many weeks before we know if he is consistently improving. I have no idea, nor does the veterinarian, if these treats are in any way related to the liver issue, and I'm not claiming that. I'm just sharing my experience and our decision to discontinue anything foreign or dyed.

Pros
  • My dog loves these but this last order
Cons
  • May cause allergic reactions in dogs
