I wouldn't use this cutter for glass, ceramic, hardened steel or harder stone as pictured, but it's definitely good for a variety of materials. For aluminum you need a cutting fluid like A-9. Or at least kerosene or WD-40. The carbide will certainly cut annealed tool steels like A2 die steel. Very handy and versatile, this conical shape is a true marvel of metal carving when used in a good die grinder. This is a high quality cutter. I'm pretty sure it has a steel shank brazed to a carbide head as stated in the product info and not solid carbide as another reviewer said. The joint is less noticeable than some I've seen where there was a lot of excess brass or bronze solder.
