I like that you have the option to scan the forehead or put in the ear canal. My old one only took your temperature in the ear canal, and the kids didn't like my having to take their temperatures in their ears each time. It's very accurate for a temporal scan too, so pleased that I bought an extra one to make the kids happy and my having to check their temperatures more easy for me. It also came with batteries, so that was an added bonus.
