No ability to sweep back and forth and not so good on hardwood floors

The first mop box was obviously open and sealed with tape so they sent me a replacement. I haven't tried all the options but I have to say that the old regular steam mop doesn't disappoint. You can only go forward and then pick up the mop and bring it back to you so you can go forward again. No back and forth motion will work as the mopping pad will detach and curl up. It doesn't even look like it's actually doing anything on the hardwood floor, which was the main reason for buying a steam cleaner. Very disappointed with the ability to wash floors. Perhaps other functions/uses would be more promising.
