Review on 1/2 Inch 19 Gauge Black Vinyl Coated Hardware Cloth Wire Fence Roll - 48X100 Mesh For Garden & Chicken Coop Fencing | Nueve Deer by Bryan Maignan

Flimsy Compared to Other 19ga Hardware Cloth

Although you, like me, might assume all 19ga galvanized pvc-coated hardware cloth is pretty much the same, it’s not. I bought different rolls of varying lengths and widths from three different manufacturers for a larger chicken run. All are 19ga galvanized, black pvc coated. In comparison, the Nueve Deer is lighter and more bendable (read: FLIMSY). I does not tolerate pneumatic stapling well at all, breaking often, even after a reduced depth adjustment on the gun that worked just fine for the other two brands. Once attached, it clearly has less strength to resist damage from predators or incidental contact than its stronger counterparts like DWale and MTB.I was attracted the slightly lower price, figuring they’d all be the same. I’m guessing this is lighter than 19ga and/or they skimped on the pvc coating process. If you want hardware cloth that’s lighter and easier to maneuver, maybe this is for you; but if strength is what you need, look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Worked
Cons
  • The black color of the vinyl coating may fade or discolor over time, causing the fence to look unsightly and diminishing curb appeal

This looks like the chicken wire I had. very thin. My staple gun went right through the wire. I''m not sure but the gauge may of been measured after the coating.
