I bought this as a gift and I was pleasantly surprised at how soft it is. The outside is smooth and looks to be good quality. I happy with all the pockets too. I'm sure he will love them.

They are ok soft just not very soft. Could be a lot softer. They just feel fake and cheap. For the cost they could be bigger. By a lot. I wear 2x everything and these were at least 4" too small. Back they went esp for that price.
