With some hearing loss, my experience with today's TVs is that they don't have their tiny array of speakers, nor the rather expensive "system" I added to track the footsteps of Jurassic Dinosaurs to make the room shake, deliver high quality sound. And when I turn up the volume I get a massive amount but not the best quality. Dialogue is still a bit muffled, although my neighbors can hear it clearly now. So, despite my state of denial [hearing impairment], I bought what appeared to be a machine, which received mostly good, albeit mixed, reviews. ears. The best thing about TV Ears is that I can now "hear" dialogue, whether it's the news or a musical performance. If that's what you're looking for, and generally if you're into them, they're probably what you're looking for, they're great. And I gave them 4 stars because they are exactly what I needed. If you want more, like sound quality or comfort (oops), you'll be badly disappointed. You can increase the volume, change the tone, but they all get louder or quieter with a different noise in the background. Too much or too little can be annoying and cause a "hiss" sound, so it takes a little trial and error to get it right. You need to set it up properly first. Still, the signal isn't always perfect, in fact it's rarely perfect with some expected distortion, but it works. And finally, while I'm happy with them because, as I said before, they do what I wanted. I can't imagine sitting for more than a program or two considering they're so damn uncomfortable, but it might just be the shape of my head - humanoid. Manufacturer's note: You absolutely must "turn off" the volume control, otherwise the device will not load, not intuitive and not properly explained in your instructions. When the device is in the base/cradle it should turn itself off, as it usually does with any other damn device of this nature.
