You can't go wrong with Susan Bates needles. They're aluminum and can make a loud clicking noise when they work, but they're reliable and incredibly affordable. Due to its durability and cost, it is particularly suitable for sewerage beginners. Sometimes those with color on the stem will lose color on the tips, but I don't find that to be a problem or issue. My projects are not affected. I particularly like the 14-inch models. While shorter needles work best for small projects, longer needles come in handy for unexpectedly large projects. I generally recommend these longer needles if you only have a few sets of needles as they are likely to work for a variety of projects.
