So I upgraded my home desk (which was an old kitchen table) and decided to free up some desk space. Also, the desk was smaller and I didn't want the monitor to be closer to me. What bothered me the most was the actual distance between me and the monitor. Most specs give a maximum extension distance - how far your hand can carry the monitor toward you, not how far behind your desk. I've asked questions about Revain but haven't received a clear answer about the products I'm interested in. (Actually it's about 2 inches). I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did. about AESTHETICS 4.5/5 The B-pillar is made of stainless steel and the body is painted silver-grey metallic. I like this style of rod mount better than the style where it just pivots at the base. My table and components happen to be all black and I should have paid more attention to the color when purchasing. There is a lot of contrast here and I think dark gray or black would look better. This type of gas spring mount has a very chunky arm, however the arm is completely hidden by the monitor. STRENGTH 4.5/5 I really have nothing to compare as this is my first stand. However, there is a slight wobble/jump when the arm is fully extended. Worried it's going somewhere. on a pole you will get even fewer jumps. I think the bottom plate of the C clamp needs to be bigger. My table is made of chipboard and I put cardboard and foam between the clamp and the table to reduce the stress on the clamp. They make professional kits for this, but it wasn't necessary for this. VALUE 5/5 I paid about $40 and think it was a fair price for the features and performance. Looking at what's available, I think the $40-$70 price range is perfect for most people's home needs. Quality/features can suffer as a result. I don't think it's worth spending more unless you need to reposition your monitor very often. I don't have to move it often. INSTALLATION 4/5 The instructions were not written in very clear English (probably poorly translated from Chinese). However, the installation was very easy and I was able to do it without any instructions. The only problem I had was installing the VESA mount on the back of the monitor. The screws that came with it were too long so I used my original screws but they were still too long. The plate that screws into the monitor is thinner than the plate on the OEM stand, so in my case the screws were 2-3mm longer and there is gap/play/movement. No problem at the moment, but I need washers or spacers. The only spring I had to adjust for my 10lb/27" monitor was the tilt spring. It took about 1/4 turn to get the correct tension. SCOPE OF MY COMPLAINTS/CONS - Color: I was aware of this when I bought it, so it's not really a fault - Mounting: thinner VESA plate may require additional modifications - Clamp: the clamp part under the table is a bit small. I would be wary of mounting on very thin surfaces, reinforcement may be needed.
