Review on πŸ’Ύ Superior Dual Bay RAID USB-C External Drive Enclosure: Introducing MiniPro RAID V3 by Leonardo Sandoval

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The 1st wasn't particularly impressive.

I put two 5TB Seagate hard drives in the case. Both drives worked fine in the 1-bay StarTech case, so I know the drives are working fine. The first problem I noticed was that when configuring the enclosure for JBOD, I could only access ONE drive at a time even though they showed up as two drives. I ran two copy commands, one for each drive. The copy launched first has no problems accessing the disk. However, the second copy just hung and waited. As soon as I killed the first copy, the second copy started. So I tried running the first copy again. Nothing for the first copy, all access was granted to the second team. Either there is a defect or the system is designed to only access one drive at a time in JBOD mode. It's ok, I didn't buy it for JBOD, I wanted RAID 0 mode. Go through the process of setting it up as RAID 0, drives are recognized, put a file system on it, start copying data. The transfer speed seems good, everything seems fine. But after about 10-15 minutes of copying the data, the transfer speed drops to about 1/10 of the previous speed and remains very slow. I am returning the Revain product as defective and they are sending me another unit. . When I get it and test it I'll update this review so you know if the second one works better than the first. But so far a disappointment.
