This is not a regular carpenter's tool. If you need accurate measurements, you need this tool. People notice its flexibility and suggest that it is a negative attribute. The truth is that if it were thicker or harder, there would be a lot of negative reviews. This is an example of precision. When using the thin lead required for accurate marking, lead elongation should be kept to a minimum as it is very fragile and prone to breakage. If this rule were thicker, you would lose the precision it provides. I have this in my tool bag and I'm glad I have it! It's a tool to look forward to if you're scratching your head trying to figure out how to improve your accuracy in this particular situation. If you never need anything better than a tape measure, you don't need this. If you place the projects accurately (star grid on the flag link), as I have done recently, you will achieve accuracy, and it will provide that accuracy in spades!
