Review on πŸ“Ά Asus USB-AC56 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Adapter with Wireless-AC1300 and USB 3.0 Connectivity by Maejima Riko ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A great option for this money, I definitely recommend it!

It was taken specifically for a Linux-based media center in order to squeeze the maximum out of Wi-Fi AC. At the other air end is the Asus RT-AC66U router. The net speed on the USBv2 interface is root@igor-htpc:~# iperf -c 19220228.320225 -P 1 -t 180 - Client connecting to 19220228.320225, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 64.0 KByte (default) - [ 3] local 19220228.320227 port 44009 connected with 19220228.320225 port 5001 [ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [3] 0.0-180.0 sec 5.05 GBytes 241 Mbits/sec USB v3 unfortunately not available. The idea is to give more. An important advantage of the device is the availability of drivers for Linux. Since from AC wi-fi whistles at the moment only this one and Edimax EW-7822UAC support Linux. Both are based on the same Realtek RTL8812AU chipset. Regarding Edimax EW-7822UAC, this whistle works more stable - I think it's in the drivers. Edimax fell off once a week - jammed.

Pros
  • Quick. 2.4 and 5 GHz. There are drivers for Linux
Cons
  • Until discovered
