First of all, I bought this to test on my Acer Aspire laptop. Both it and my 2012 DV7 have very similar power draws. Both are 'workstation' type computers and both had the same 135W laptop chargers that came with them. Bottom line, it worked, and it worked in tougher conditions than my old DV7. It charges slower than an HP laptop, but also uses more power when active. My Acer is currently running two displays, with the laptop acting as the third (3 1080p displays total), playing Rayman Origins on one monitor, YouTube on the other, and nothing but desktop on the third. It was still able to charge my laptop and keep it 100%. Although, it should be noted that none of the ports technically matched my laptop, I had to modify one of them to make it work. I don't recommend it, but my modification was minimal at best. The yellow connector is the closest thing to what Acer uses on almost all laptops, except the outside diameter is about 5.5mm, while the HP connector's outside diameter is about 4.75mm. I was originally going to attach my Acer connector to the line, but I had a conductive copper tape that I used to power a light strip for my old HP laptop so I could see the keys at night. So I put tape on the cylinder and wrapped it around until I got the 5.5mm OD I needed for my Acer connector. I had to make two strips as the tape was only about 3.5mm wide. The benefit is that it fits snugly in my port and still transfers charge (thanks to the conductive glue on the underside of the copper strip) and if I need to for some reason I can remove the tape and reconnect the connector to its normal shape . The reason for this risk was simple, the charger is about 50% smaller than the one that came with my laptop and if it can power my laptop under heavy load it will be more than enough to take it on a trip to take with you while taking up less space. I also like that every part of this connector can be disassembled which reduces stress on the cables whereas the one that came with my laptop has the laptop connector plugged into the power supply which can over stress and damage the cable . Where it breaks down into three beautiful parts that increase its lifespan. The only downside is that the port protrudes a bit more than the Acer port (Acer protrudes about 12mm, HP about 22mm, or about 0.4 inch more than the Acer). Despite this, they have improved the design of the cable. It sits at a right angle, the other travel charger (older model) doesn't fit directly into the laptop, it goes right inside. I also like that there are three connection options. That way I can pull out my "modded" one, put one in for my DV7, and save even more space when I need to keep both of my laptops with me (for whatever reason, but if necessary). I'm a very atypical use case, the laptop I'm using is an Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition (1080P screen, nVidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5, expanded to 32GB RAM, replaced by 512GB SSD, USB C with connected combo hub / HDMI , combo receiver connected, 2 external hard drives connected), so enough load to properly test this charger.
