I had a few problems with the passport at first but never used it. I had no idea how long it would take to back up my Mac the first time. I was also confused as my Mac indicated my backup was done but it wasn't so I figured the passport was corrupt. I searched the internet and found my problem. Now I back up my Mac without any problem. This takes 10 to 15 minutes. Update: On 2/4/18 I had no intention of backing up my MacBook. I bought a new MacBook in October 2017 and have been able to continue to secure my new MacBook. I was trying to backup my MacBook on 2/11/18 and I had an error code that the backup failed. I was trying to find a solution to my problem but it got to the point where I couldn't extract it and it wouldn't mount. Also, it started making a clicking noise from time to time when trying to backup my data. It's still under warranty and the company will replace it, but they won't restore any data, which is fine because everything on it is on my laptop. I think it should have lasted longer than 2 1/2 years, maybe I'm technically naive. I will probably buy a different brand.
