I thought it was stupid and unnecessary until I got one. I make a lot of Swiss Meringue Buttercream and OMG WISH I GET THAT EARLY! It's well constructed so the yolk doesn't break and the albumen separates cleanly from it. Plus, it sticks to the rim of the bowl or measuring cup, giving you two hands to crack the eggs. You can of course do without this product, but the use of space in the drawer is worth it, and if you have children who are happy to help, they can separate the eggs themselves. Much better than the silicone teats which have a higher risk of yolk breakage. I will give away many of them.
