I chose this to replace a duvet with typical polyester filling. What if you live somewhere that has a season other than summer, it's probably great for warmth. Is my room on the side of the house where all the hot afternoon sun hits? Not as much. Add to that the fact that I'm the type who needs some weight on top (a few blankets, a weighted blanket, whatever you've got) and it's a recipe for rapid overheating, which means poor sleep, which means I get even less a morning am person as if -or. (And I'm not a morning person. Not at all.) This spread is 100% cotton as stated on the label, it is NOT fluffy and comes shrink-wrapped in a clean piece of cloth. I opened the package, shook it, put it in the air dryer, and after a while I had a beautiful, light-colored blanket that didn't wrinkle or crease in transit. No snapped threads that I noticed, the panties match perfectly and the vibrant turquoise sheets I already have match perfectly. the light weight of a heavier blanket (but not the stifling warmth of a real weighted blanket either) and I actually felt like I slept better because I wasn't under a polyester blanket for 8 hours. A++ As this is the outermost layer on my bed I don't plan to machine wash it often but if it self destructs in the process I will update my rating. Now I'm very happy.
