I learned my lesson on a trip earlier this year when my old non-TSA locks were cut off on a domestic flight. A friend showed me her locks and how security can open them with a key. So I just bought them for peace of mind. I can't say much about it, except that if the US security forces want to look in your pockets, they'll pick your locks anyway, so you might have them. UPDATE 7/1/2017: I don't know exactly what happened, but now I don't use these locks or any other locks when I travel because it doesn't make sense. On my last trip, my bags arrived with no locks! The only thing I can guess is that security either stole it, forgot to put it back on after opening it, or didn't lock it securely. But since both castles are gone I can only guess. I have mentioned this to other traveling friends who have told me they no longer bother using the locks as nothing is secure. Do not pack things that you cannot afford to lose. Make sure you have good travel insurance. It's the best you can do!
