Works great with iPhone 8 Plus without a case. Works with a case but not as well due to the V-shape of the rubber pads. It holds so securely that you don't need a case. I use a Takstar SGC-598 with microphone and mount it on a tripod. I used a spirit level to check the mount and the built in iPhone spirit level. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the phone lays perfectly level in the holder. Sturdy and multiple cold shoe mounts allow you to mount the mic over the camera lens so you can see and speak in the same place. Gives a good visual cue to make sure you're looking at the lens.
