Ruin the surface

Used this on my DR 650 and it stays in place and retains the fare amount. I used mine to store tire patches and a spare tube. If you're not afraid to scratch your wing, then this is for you. After a 10 day trip I took the bag off to clean the fender and it messed up the surface and not worth putting too much weight on when the fender moves.
