Review on X570 Phantom Gaming ITX TB3 Thunderbolt by Bishop Roshad

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Updated Review - Decent AM4 Mobo - Almost got 5 stars for the most part, but.

As the title suggests this is now an updated review - and yes I bought it here at Revain. To be honest I expected a better ASROCK! My setup is the last part below if you want to know what I'm currently using. Pros - this motherboard has plenty of them: (which is great) and a decent amount of USB 3.2 ports - solid AM4 / supports up to 5950X (yes it is)! So this is a great way to upgrade in the future! - PCIE Gen 4 for M.2 slot and graphics card slot is great and decent BIOS for overclocking. - The PCIE graphics card slot is a reinforced metal/stainless steel bracket that's great for big and heavy cards - trust me, that's a big plus! Now for the cons - these are the issues that bothered me with this MOBO: Before - I was pretty strict with my previous review but to be honest as I'm still not sure I'll buy an ASROCK MOBO again will, but who knows . My #1 biggest complaint was. The MOBO chipset's fan is ticking terribly and I couldn't get rid of it. I opened up the fan case to see if it hit anything and it's the fan itself (didn't find anything). However, after a careful application of silicone spray and a light but gentle sanding of the fan blades (yes, I know, I've never had to do that), it was almost gone. I was very upset about this because of the cost of the MOBO - I didn't want to redo my setup and send this MOBO back - Honestly, poor ASROCK quality control! Claim #2 - Water Cooling Holes - Leave holes with plenty of ROOM for bracket screws and similar accessories. God, ASROCK, come on, 2020 should be easy. These holes have no covers and resistors, barely managed to turn on my Evermax water cooler but it kept going. My #3 problem was the audio - it seemed clear but the mic wasn't working properly - jeez, AROCK. My issue #4 was in the save location - no space at all. I didn't have this problem with my old MSI Mini ITX Intel setup - I had to remove the heatsinks - which was quite a shame - ASROCK again, could have been a lot better. My #5 complaint is that, as others have mentioned, the board gets cold, leaving little room for water cooling or larger air coolers - hence the heatsink layout around the CPU and transistor was poorly designed. ASROCK, you can't consider every kind of cooling situation, but you could think about it. We are back in 2020! This review is short but hopefully accurate. Would I buy it again because of the features? A tricky question to be honest as I'd love to see what else is out there due to the quality control issues I've encountered. Again, it has a bunch of great features, but mini-ITX builders like me need something to get the job done. My configuration: - AMD 3700X (I overclock it from time to time but no more) - Great opportunity to upgrade to 5950X in the future. .-Western Digital WD BLACK SN750 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 64-Layer 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS100T3X0C + multiple SSDs of different sizes. I think the total storage of this pup is 2.25TB. - G.SKILL Flare X (for AMD) 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop - Memory model F4-3200C16D-16GFX (heatsinks had to be removed to fit) . 43 mm thick cooler radiator with 120 mm duo static pressure. - Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX computer case with mesh front panel and water cooling support (this will be modified by me).

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Long wait
