I bought this MP3 player. because it was just scaled down and I thought it would be good for a workout. However, I returned it three days later due to faulty software, sub-par sound quality, sensitive/non-working buttons, and the lack of anything other than a neck strap. Let's get down to the dirty details: 1) Buggy software: I installed this on a fairly recent install of Windows XP, all updates applied to it, etc. I download the updated firmware from the company's website and install it as well. However, after maybe two or three times I successfully removed the device via Safely Remove Hardware, the Safely Remove Hardware function would hang each time, only realizing that I had reconnected the device to the computer and I didn't restart it . I became suspicious of the device when the manual said to ignore the fact that it hadn't been tested for XP compatibility. The faulty software only confirmed this. I've tried multiple uninstalls, reinstalls, deleting the registry, etc., but nothing seems to fix the hang. I'm thankful it was just with this device. 2) Sound Quality: Let me just say this: I didn't even try using the included headphones because I read so many reviews that they, well, suck. I used my good Sony headphones and the sound quality was worse than I would like. Bass response, especially when pop or rock is playing, is like someone farting under their armpits, and when you combine the bass and treble at the right time, the bass is overwhelming. 3) Sensitive/non-working buttons + collar = Bad combo As I said, I would mainly use this player at the gym. Since it only attaches with a lanyard, it wobbles a lot when I lean over shelves and the like. And as it swayed, it inevitably touched the weight plate, causing the button to be pressed, causing the next song to play. It's okay I thought, I'll just use the back button to go back to the song I was listening to. Much to my surprise, the back button is nothing more than a plastic button that pushes but doesn't. NOTHING. I couldn't rewind, go back to the title, or do anything with it. To hear the song that left me, I had to go through the tracks until I got back to him. And the cycling took a while, as each song took a second or two to load, and unless you counted your clicks, you never knew what number it would end up on. Basically, I thought it was a piece of [garbage]. I'm looking for something better.
