I know some people have complained about the colors but we really like the colors and pattern. The bedspread is brown, brown and blue (perhaps like Robin Egg, with a touch of green). The fabric is very soft because it's microfiber and the perfect weight for summer; not too hot. Initially I had a duvet on my side so the sides seemed shorter. There is a faint striped pattern behind the medallions, so I tried getting them to move up and down vertically on the bed, but it didn't work. If you look at the pillowcases, you will see that the pattern is horizontal. Make sure you turn the bedspread this way and you'll have enough fabric to hang down either side. Also, I didn't find it had a terrible smell as others have pointed out. I quickly tossed it in the wash and then tumble dried on low. Unlike my other, larger duvet, this one dried in the machine without having to unfold it afterwards. In general we are very satisfied with the purchase.
