I have several cats and the old ones don't have claws anymore. Don't blame me for either removing it or getting rid of it, which is why I went with the smaller option. The youngest doesn't have claws, so we try to draw his full attention to the scratching posts. He loves them and goes through about two a month. Ironically, the cat, who doesn't actually have claws, loves to climb on him and pretend to scratch his claws. It's absolutely amazing. They love the shape of this item and will actually fall asleep on it and if I put it in front of the birds they will sit and look at it.
