I used to own and use the branded version of this thermal tool. It worked well, was a bit heavy, but was returned as impractical at over $100. Now that I have pandemic hair that's too long, I need to get more creative about what to do with my mane. I bought this device with the same idea as Chi but at half the price. My results were exactly the same! This brand is lighter, which is an advantage as long as it's not likely to break faster and remembers my settings (regardless of the instructions, I have 1 standard for time and heat, and both settings have to be changed every time I use it ). Otherwise no difference in performance. My hair didn't seem to be affected by the heat or the tool itself and my curls stayed just as long (about 3 days with loose but defined curls by day 3).
