It does a great job of removing makeup with just water, I love that I don't have to look for a cleanser that doesn't cause pimples, doesn't dry out my face, etc I loved it pretty good but one night I used a tissue and then a pad and it removed the makeup my tissue left behind, I was really surprised! Cotton is very soft and is easily cleaned with hand soap and warm or hot water. Soap is so good at removing makeup from fabrics. I think. It's better to use the soap on the fabric and not on my face. Anyway I gave this rug 4 stars because I didn't know or want there to be no foam between the cotton, I just prefer cotton so I made a small cut in the material at the back edge and pulled the foam in between the material, now it works great and dries easily in the wash.
