Good news - after modification, the charger successfully charges my iPhone and watch at the same time. The bad news is that the Apple Watch charging cable that came with my watch doesn't work. Was the device manufactured to the wrong specifications? Or maybe Apple changed the specs of the charging cable/plate that came with the watch? For some reason, the end of my Apple Watch SE's USB connector didn't fit through the hole in the base of the small fold-out stand. It doesn't matter, it just looks neater. However, there is a molded plastic channel on the underside that you plug the USB end of the watch cable into, allowing it to draw power from the base. This canal is also too small. My husband was able to use a Dremel sanding tool to widen both the hole and connector slot, so it's working now. But if you don't do this at home, you will NOT be able to charge your watch (at least the Apple Watch 2021 SE) via the device. It was a cramped and uncomfortable area to work in and should not have been necessary.
