Some bulletin boards don't have a backing to them and can be very "floppy" especially if not hung flatly on a wall. This one has a solid back which makes it nice and sturdy. I needed something to help me get papers up off of my desk. It isn't a lot of space, but it works well for pinning notes and keeping things from getting buried. I like that it comes with hanging hardware that easily allows you to hang it in a horizontal or vertical orientation. I personally just have it leaning up against the wall at the back of my desk.
