In general, I recommend. I got a little one when my hedgehog was tiny but he outgrew it quickly in a few weeks. He had a habit of chewing it and ripping the insides, although he is also losing his 'juvenile' spines and growing to his adult size, so this may have contributed to ripping the insides of the base as well. It's great that it unzips, but be sure to check inside for security and all. I'll probably get a medium for it next time I choose this bed again, but I'll definitely choose one that opens like this one.
