Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ Cisco-Linksys WAP11: Enhanced Wireless-B Network Access Point for Seamless Connectivity by Jeremy Romero

A few things to remember

Buy this product first. Once you've got it set up and up and running, it's a wonderful thing and completely hassle-free. Just turn on your laptop from almost anywhere in the house and you're online. Also works great with pausing and resuming the laptop. You'll never get off the couch again! But a few memories. First, make sure that the SSID of the card and the access point match; mine weren't. (It doesn't matter if they're "linksys" or "wireless" or whatever, they just agree.) Second, don't worry too much about the IP configuration. I left all the default hotspot values and it worked more or less well (I can't access the hotspot with Network Utility [although I can with USB], but it still seems to get the job done, as promised ) . , Think for yourself.) Don't expect much from Linksys technical support either. Nothing useful on their website, they don't respond to emails, and I can't wait long for phone support. But that might not matter: it's not a product you'll be messing around with once it's up and running. Finally, on the range, it's small but should be fine for most purposes. In our 3,000-foot house, I can reach most of the rooms, but not the one on the other side of the house, one floor up and five walls up. I think 100 feet and/or 4-5 walls/floors would be a reasonable rule of thumb for a frame house.

Pros
  • Many will do
Cons
  • Boring packaging
