Travel “night” bottle!

I use good quality plastic bottles for my "night” bottles. If you’re in your late 50s like me, you know what kind of bottle that is.I bought this collapsible bottle to use for travel purposes, for the same reason. It won’t take up any room when traveling. It’s brilliant. What can I say. I recommend this bottle for old dudes. Carry on….

Pros
  • Nice product, using it at Disney
Cons
  • Can be susceptible to cracking under extreme temperatures

Flight attendant and husband is a pilot. We carry food bags that hold many days of food so we can eat healthy on the road. Putting ice in this every day keeps food bag cool, and we no longer waste gallon bags or first aid head bags.

Pros
  • The leakproof design means that you can safely store your bottle in a purse or bag without worrying about spills or leaks
Cons
  • May not fit comfortably in smaller purses or shoulder bags

Leaked on the first day of use. Too late to return.

I purchased this in June for a Fall backpacking trip and did not use it for a several months. On the first day that I used it on a three-night backpacking trip it had a slow leak somewhere on the seam near the bottom. It is too late to return it so all I can do is leave a review to let others know not to purchase this product.

Pros
  • The wide range of colors means that you can easily match your water bottle to your backpack, outfit, or other gear
Cons
  • Plastic material can release harmful chemicals over time

Leaked after 10 day trip

I would return this but didn't get back from our backpack trip until the day after the return item window closed.I gave it 2 stars since before it started leaking I really liked it, but after the leak who wants water leaking over your backpack! Also, since I am not the only report of a leak from this area it seems to be a design flaw/weakness. I do not recommend this product.Update: I contacted Nalgene about warranty replacement. I just got an email confirming they are sending me a replacement.

Pros
  • The Nalgene Canteen is a great option for runners who need a way to stay hydrated during long-distance races
Cons
  • May not be the best choice for those who frequently use a water bottle for sports or workouts

Good pee bottle for mountaineering

I needed a pee bottle for my mountaineering trip, and this style was recommended by the guides due to its light weight and compactability. I thankfully only had to use it once at night, but it did the trick (and didn't leak as stated in other reviews.whew!). The materials do seem like they could crack or tear after being folded and unfolded multiple times, so I wouldn't rely on this for extended use. I'm a woman and the wide mouth of the bottle and a little practice meant I didn't need to carry

Pros
  • I use it to make sun tea.
Cons
  • Leaks through top.

can't complain good for me

If your cutting down weight in a pack for hiking, this could be useful besides a camelbak pouch. the mouth is a bit bigger than I expected, not crazily hard or anything, you just have to stop walking to take a drink. I wouldve gone with the small mouth if i could go back. Ill continue to use it though, fits in a side pocket of my bag real easy.

Pros
  • The lightweight design makes it easy to take your water bottle with you wherever you go
Cons
  • May not be the best choice for those who want to carry multiple water bottles at once

It's also a bit tedious to clean

So far I've only used this item to store the remains of a milk carton so I could squeeze the air out and not worry that the mild would spoil too soon. It does work, but it's a bit tricky to squeeze out all the air and not spill some milk. It's also a bit tedious to clean, but still worth the cost and the effort.

Pros
  • The Nalgene Canteen makes it easy to track your water intake throughout the day
Cons
  • Can retain heat in warm weather and cause water to become warm more quickly

Durable and secure!

Used this as a pee bottle for mountaineering. My tent blew away on rocky terrain one day and super super thankful nothing leaked/spilled. Larger cap mouth great for women field use.

Pros
  • The leakproof design ensures that your drinks won't spill or drip, making it easy to carry in a backpack or purse
Cons
  • Can be difficult to pour liquid into without spilling

Didn't last more than 2 hikes

I typically carry platypus collapsible bottles and have logged hundreds of miles on them. I used this on 2 hikes, and on the second time out with it, i reach into my pack for my insulation layers and find them soaking wet, as this bottle is leaking at the seam near the bottom. My hunting partner had this exact same failure mode on his bottle while deep in the back country. Skip the nalgene and buy platypus. Only reason i tried this is because my water filter has a "nalgene" size adapter. Its…

Pros
  • Go to bottle for packability, durability and still stands. Love that it's soft in my pack!
Cons
  • Can develop a funky smell over time if not properly cleaned

For holding water on a hike, I use Platypus bottles. They're as light as can be, and when empty they fold down to almost nothing. This Nalgene bottle can't do that because of the wide lid, but the wide lid is why I bought it. It's the bottle I use to scoop up water from streams while backpacking. I put a piece of cheesecloth over the mouth and can fill the bottle by drawing it through even a shallow stream. That can't be done with the small-mouthed Platypus bottles. If I'm hiking where I expect

Pros
  • The durable construction means that you won't have to replace your water bottle anytime soon
Cons
  • Lack of insulation means it may sweat in warm conditions

Must have. for my opinion

I ordered this for backpacking. It's great. Even when full it molds to fit just about anywhere. I've read some reviews about rips and tears. It's made of thin light weight plastic. So use common sense and don't toss it around or let it slide down the rocks. Great buy and I plan on adding another to my pack.

Pros
  • This is a nice item because it compresses when not filled.
Cons
  • it leaks out the seams. don't buy.

Faulty ORing, can't clip onto bag

I used this nalgene bottle on a recent hiking trip, with the hopes of being able to hang from a carabiner off my bag. After one day, the 'O-ring' that holds the lid to the bottle slipped off the bottle, despite being no more than half full of liquid. After replacing it, it remained loose and slid off, often with no liquid in it.Whereas regular nalgene bottles clip on to bags easily, this one does not accomplish the same function. I wouldn't buy as a result.Ideally, I'd like to be contacted to…

Pros
  • The Nalgene Canteen is versatile enough to be used in a variety of settings, whether you're hiking, camping, or hitting the gym
Cons
  • Wide mouth can make it difficult to drink while wearing a helmet or mouthguard
