Product works as it should. I did not use strips or side mounts as my monitor has a raised bezel around the screen. The filter sits there perfectly so I didn't have to use it so I can't speak to that part. The filter itself reduces the brightness of the screen, but only a little, and my monitor's brightness wasn't set to maximum, so I adjusted that and everything is fine.
